Episode 213 – Mr. Deity, Brian Keith Dalton, talks Mormonism

Episode #213 –   Brian Keith Dalton

A lot of big stories over the past week that filled our first hour to the brim.  First, we took a few minutes to remember former guest Paul Kurtz, who is in many ways the founder of the modern skeptical and humanist movements in the U.S.  We also touched on the death threat skeptic Karen Stollznow received after writing a column critical of the Long Island Medium, Theresa Caputo.  And we also decde Republicans should stop talking about rape, since every time they do, they insert their foot in their mouths – with Senatorial candidate Mourdock being just the latest example.  Finally, we reveal a recent kerfuffle involving a psychic…err, medium….err, sensitive intuitive mortician Mariah de la Croix that still baffles the hell out of us.

In our second hour, we were very excited to welcome Mr. Deity himself, Brian Keith Dalton, to talk to us about his upbringing in Mormonism and what exactly Mormons believe.  With Gov. Mitt Romney running for president, it’s a topic worth seriously talking about.  What’s the deal with the magic underwear?  Do Mormons really believe they become God of a planet when they die?  And what is Mormonism’s connection with racism?  All this and more in this interesting, yet also very entertaining, discussion with Mr. Deity!
