Episode 245 – Playing with the Ouija Board

–The U.S. Supreme Court has a big week, overturning an element of the Voting Rights Act, as well as effectively killing DOMA and Prop 8.  We discuss the crazy reactions of elected officials and pundits to the idea of marriage equality for gay people.  Also, we stress that this decision is progress, but not a total victory.
–A Texas legislator has a fundamental misunderstanding of what a rape kit is, believing it to be a form of abortion.
ouija–We review “Man of Steel,” bitch about 3D, and lament Hollywood’s coming attractions.
–Police in Oregon use a taser on an 11 year old autistic girl because she “didn’t respond” to their commands.
Faith-healing parents, who allowed their child to nearly be blinded by not seeking out medical attention, are sentenced to a paltry 90 days in jail.
–Two murder cases have our attention:  the George Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin trial, and the arrest of New England Patriot’s player Aaron Hernandez.

In the 2nd hour, we speak to Karen Dahlman, author of “The Spirit of Creativity:  Embodying Your Soul’s Passions,” about Ouija boards, how they can be used therapeutically, and dig into her claim that the spirit world helped her write the book.

About Jason Korbus

Friend, family member, possible werewolf. I co-host Strange Frequencies Radio, blog at Confidential Korbus, and generally walk among the weird. When I'm not doing busywork, I can usually be found with my nose in a book, my eyes glued to a glowing screen, or my ears tuned to The Ramones.
