SFR 356: The Myths That Stole Christmas

–Christmas has come and gone.  How did your holiday go? What did you give? Receive? What did you eat?
xmasmythsbook–Jason was sick last week, and try though he might, he can’t seem to convince anyone (especially not his flu vaccine denying family members) that he did not have the flu. What is the “conflusion” all about?
–A tenured professor named James Tracy faces possible termination from his university, in part, because of his denial of the Sandy Hook massacre. We discuss whether academic freedom should protect him, regardless of the unpopularity of his position, or if claims of him harassing Sandy Hook families warrant his dismissal.
–Bobby is finally able to give his unfiltered thoughts on Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.  Spoilers abound!

In hour 2, we spoke with Dr. David Kyle Johnson about his new book, “The Myths That Stole Christmas.” Along the way, we delve into the creepy historical origins of Santa Claus, discuss whether lying to your children about Santa Claus is a good thing, and have never had more fun making children cry!

About Jason Korbus

Friend, family member, possible werewolf. I co-host Strange Frequencies Radio, blog at Confidential Korbus, and generally walk among the weird. When I'm not doing busywork, I can usually be found with my nose in a book, my eyes glued to a glowing screen, or my ears tuned to The Ramones.
