SFR 396: Cutty Black Sow

–An apparent ISIS sympathizer rams his car into people on the campus of Ohio State University, then exits the vehicle to begin attacking bystanders with a knife. Luckily, no innocent victims were killed, but a fast acting police officer was able to gun down the perpetrator.  In the early aftermath of the assault, news outlets reported information which led even people like Senator Tim Kaine, to falsely promote the idea that there had been “senseless gun violence.”
–Ever wonder what it takes to get banned for life from an airline? You can now ask this Trump supporter, who was being obnoxious and calling people “Hillary bitches.” Did Delta go too far in banning this guy? Bobby says yes.
–Speaking of President-elect Donald Trump, he has floated the idea that people who burn the American flag should be subject to a year in prison, while a look at history shows Hillary Clinton was in SFR_Eyefavor of something similar at one time. We are adamantly opposed to these whacky ideas purely on First Amendment grounds.
–We give a co-recommendation of “The Supremes’ Greatest Hits,” by Michael G. Trachtman, because it is not only important for Americans to understand their Constitution a little better, but to be alert on how fragile their freedoms can be depending on who sits on the highest court in the land.
–Listener Chris L. writes in to ask “What would convince us of a haunting?” It’s always fun to put our skeptical ghost hunting caps back on and talk a little shop.
–New polling by Pew Research shows that Americans have some trust issues with scientists on food safety. Then again, it seems a lot of us in this country don’t trust scientists on many things, depending on the topic. Still, there is much to discuss when it comes to how these issues break down by political affiliation.
–Bobby has been watching the election recounts, and made note that Trump’s margin of victory in a few key states is now smaller than the sum of Jill Stein votes. Did voting for Jill Stein cost Clinton the election? Will Bobby take another opportunity to shame the Greens?
–Apparently because their wasn’t enough injustice to be outraged by, so a couple re-wrote the lyrics to “Baby It’s Cold Outside” to emphasize the importance of consent. Jason wonders when they’ll attack the lyrics of rappers, but stresses it is important to remember that lyrics are often works of fiction where no one really got raped.
